We are a group of 19 students from 9 different countries. We use English as a lingua franca. We came together to study dialogue in Tampere University Summer School for two weeks.

We needed to find our topic for our group project. We noticed that it was easier for some people to speak up and some people not. That’s why we came up with the idea of inclusive participation.

Firstly, we discussed on ‘Why some people are silent?’. After that, we thought that it would be a bit easier if everyone write down a note about why he or she is silent or not participating sometimes. Then, we summarise the reasons and started to think of solutions in a big group.

We only had six sessions meeting together and doing the project. We noticed that it is a tight schedule for the project, but it will be grateful for us to find out some useful suggestions for people who are not frequently participated in group.
