For one of our EOTO activities, we decided to go thrift shopping together.
Organised by TREY’s Event Department Collection during the Well-being week, we did a Flea Market/Thrift Store Appro: going around different markets and stores in Tampere, just like a pub crawl.
Appro’s, which are organised pub crawls and challenges with the goal to collect stamps and have fun with friends, are very popular events in Finland.
So for this time, our focus was more on getting to know each other a bit, and experiencing more of the Finnish (student) culture. As we hopped around thrift stores, we were able to share stories (for example; our vacation) and small opinions about the high prices and clothes, and if we liked them or not.
Thus, there was less emphasis on teaching new words, vocabulary or grammar. The whole goal of today was to slow down and enjoy the city, the challenge, the company, and the clothes.
