For our group’s first EOTO meeting, we decided to combine a supermarket visit with the park.
On September 24, we met at the Lidl in the city centre. We went through all of the shopping aisles and taught each other words/sentences in our respective languages. However, since our group is relatively big, we focused mainly on the languages Dutch and Finnish. We translated simple foods & beverages, and pointed out some (similar) typical or famous foods (e.g. Dutch is Gouda Cheese or Stroopwafels; e.g Finnish is Karjalanpaisti, e.g. German is schnitzel or Weisswurst).
It was a relaxed hangout to get to know each other, the types of foods we (dis)like, and also learn some new words along the way.
At the end, we bought some snacks for ourselves, and walked to Sorsipuisto to snack and chat for a bit 🙂
