It was Emese’s birthday. As soon as I saw her, I wished her a happy birthday. At our last hiking meeting, Emese mentioned that in Germany, it’s considered unlucky to celebrate before your birthday. Since there is no such tradition in Korea, I made sure to be careful not to celebrate her birthday in advance.
We had lunch at Tampere Market Hall. I felt that the market was lively and a great place to experience the regional characteristics of Finland and Tampere. While exploring the market, we noticed a variety of regional products, including reindeer meat, which surprised me since I didn’t know it was edible. After walking around the market once, we decided to eat at a Japanese restaurant.
Yang and I ordered Tonkatsu, while Melina had a Lohi Poke Bowl. Emese said she had a late breakfast, so she just ordered Ramune, a Japanese soda.
There seem to be many Japanese restaurants in Tampere, especially sushi buffets. Since Korea and Japan share many cultural similarities, there are numerous Japanese restaurants in Korea, and I love Japanese food. The Tonkatsu at this restaurant was a bit chewy, but still good. We also got a student discount, so I was very satisfied overall.
