For our next Each One Teach One meeting, Lenka, Christoph and I went to the all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant C Sushi in Hervanta – highly recommended! It was my first time going out to eat in Tampere, and honestly, what could be better than sushi — as much as you want?
Once we arrived, we were welcomed by a huge variety of dishes and sushi types. From fried noodles to chicken and beef curry, from spring rolls to at least 20 different kinds of sushi – there was everything you could imagine. Perfect conditions for eating until we were completely full – and a guaranteed food coma afterwards!
We tried almost everything on the menu and compared our personal favourites while eating. For Lenka and me, the clear winner was the fried sushi with tuna – so delicious that I’m getting hungry again just writing about it!
Besides eating, we talked about sushi culture in our home countries. Lenka told us that sushi has become quite popular in the Czech Republic, especially in Prague and Brno. Christoph and I explained that it’s similar in Germany — sushi is seen as a nice and tasty option when meeting friends or going out for dinner.
We exchanged useful vocabulary such as jidlo (= food), hůlky (= chopsticks), rýže (= rice), účet (= bill). We also practiced simple sentences like „Mám ráda sushi.“ (= I like sushi.) It was a nice experience to learn words while actually using them in a real situation and we spent a very nice afternoon together.
We finished the meal with some chocolate from a flowing fountain, which was a sweet ending and went home with full stomachs.
We all agreed that we definitely want to do this again!
