For our third meeting we met at a nice little bar in the city centre. Getting to know German beer culture was on our agenda – but as there were no German beers available, we had to get by with talking about beer. This conversation was long and interesting and at the same time I learned some vocabulary related to breweries. At the end of our meeting, I tried to test my new vocabulary skills by explaining others in German how beer is made.
Some words I learned:
brewery = die Brauerei
to make beer = Bier brauen
barrel = das Fass
counter = die Theke
I also learned there are so many ways to drink beer in Germany. One is “Ratler”, where you mix beer with lemonade. Sounds questionable to me…
