Yesterday we talked about our families and taught each other the necessary vocabulary. It was nice to have this conversation and at the same time practise some of the vocabulary I had learned before. I also liked that I could add some special German words, namely the Hessian dialect, since I come from Hessen.
The vocabs said in Spanish were:
- Parents – Los padres
- Father – Padre
- Mother – Madre
- Son – Hijo
- Daughter – Hija
- Brother – Hermano
- Sister – Hermana
- Siblings – Hermanos
- Grandparents – Los abuelos
- Grandfather – Abuelo
- Grandmother – Abuela
- Uncle – Tío
- Aunt – Tía
- Nephew – Sobrino
- Niece – Sobrina
- Cousin – Primo
I translated the same into German and taught the following in addition:
- Dad – Papa,
- Mom – Mama
- Twins – Zwillinge
- Grandpa – Opa
- Grandma – Oma
- Godfather – Pate (Hessian dialect: Petter)
- Godmother – Patin (Hessian dialect: Döt)
After talking about our families, we translated some means of transport and directions, as these are often needed when travelling.
