Seventh meeting: Carnival

A brief description of what Carnival is in Germany.

On our seventh meeting, we were talking about carnivals in general, but especially about the German carnival.

Carnival in Germany is the time of year when there is an excess of parades, costumes, parties, balls, music, and beer. Every region in Germany celebrates carnival, but depending on the area you live in, you might hear different names for this season. The three most common names for carnival in Germany are Karneval, Fastnacht, and Fasching.

We celebrate carnival a little differently in my home country, so it was interesting for me to hear about how other nations celebrate carnival. This was a great opportunity to get to know more about German culture.
