Learn Languages and Cultures with UniTandem

UniTandem is a unique opportunity for higher education students in Finland to learn languages and cultures through a peer-to-peer tandem learning method. Practice languages, explore new cultures, and earn credits! See the poster for more information!

 

What is UniTandem?

UniTandem pairs two students to teach each other their mother tongues (or near-native languages) in informal, one-on-one online meetings.

• Learn by acting as both teacher and learner.
• Suitable for all levels – from beginner to advanced.
• Flexible: Can complement regular language studies or be taken as a standalone course.

 

How Does It Work?

1. Sign Up
   Visit UniTandem Registration and register with your university email.
2. Find Your Match
   Match with a partner interested in learning your language while teaching theirs.
3. Enroll in the Course
   Degree students (AMK): Enroll via Peppi or Pakki.

Finnish university students: Use this form.

1. Choose Triggers
   Pick topics, called triggers, that focus on specific skills or themes in your target language.
   3 triggers as a learner = 1 ECTS credit.
   Earn between 1–5 credits based on your participation.
2. Reflect & Document
   Reflect on your learning in the course blog and gather your outputs in a portfolio.
3. Feedback & Submission
   Exchange feedback with your partner, submit your portfolio, and earn credits.

📅 Course Period: 30.1.2025 – 30.5.2025
📅 Kick-off Meeting: Details shared after enrollment.
