Aleksi Suuronen 2016-2018

Data Analyst

After completing my Master’s Degree Programme in Public Choice at Tampere University in 2018, I embarked on a professional journey that has allowed me to leverage my analytical skills and passion for data.

In January 2019, I began working as a Doctoral Researcher at Åbo Akademi. Over the next three and a half years, I focused on my PhD thesis, which involved designing, conducting, and writing research articles centered on statistical analyses of survey data related to political behavior online. This role honed my ability to extract insights from complex datasets and communicate findings effectively.

In August 2021, while continuing my doctoral research, I took on the role of Project Researcher at Tampere University. I was part of a project studying the harassment and intimidation faced by Finnish journalists. My responsibilities included designing survey questionnaires and conducting in-depth statistical analyses on the collected data, providing valuable insights into the challenges faced by journalists.

In June 2022, I transitioned to the private sector, joining IKEA as an data analyst. At IKEA, I optimized the performance of the IKEA.fi e-commerce site. My tasks included monitoring key business KPIs, creating new dashboards for business steering, conversion optimization, and forecasting. I utilized my proficiency in R-programming, SQL, and BigQuery to manipulate and analyze large datasets. Additionally, I used Power BI and Locker Studio to develop automated dashboards, providing actionable insights that drove business decisions.

The skills I learned from the Master’s Degree Programme in Public Choice were instrumental in building a solid foundation in statistics and quantitative methods that allowed me to work both in academia and in the private sector. My post-graduate career has been marked by a commitment to leveraging data to solve complex research questions and drive meaningful business  outcomes.
