The energy crisis and its effect on us

by Attila Benyei

We as humans are coscious of our environment and whats happening around us. Even takeing into consideration the fact that environmental protection, care for our environment not started so long ago.

An early stage of phylosophy was developed for resource conservation by Grifford Pinchot (1865-1946) whose work represented a wise and efficient use of resources. Josh Muis (1838-1914) and Aldo Leopold (1887-1948), a professor of wildlife management, suggested humans should not conquer nature but live alongside it. At this period there was no shortage of natural resources everything was raw and there to be taken and to be developed from it. As the years passed our environment changed. Cities grew infrastructure grew and at the same time resource usage grew as well. The energy is something we could not live without in todays age. But a drastic change could also be devastating for a majority of the population.

Our current great problem is the energy shortage and the inflation thats coming with it. The more sought after somehing is, and less amount is available the more it will cost. In 2020 1 barrel of crude oil was 40.91$ in 2022 June 1 barrel costed 122.71$ as of 2022 September 1 barrel cost 89.76$. That still more than double what it cost 2 years ago. This is just one part of the picture everything is getting expensive, energy prices on the rise. The clean and renevable energy wont be able to satisfy the energy needs of the population yet. Cleen and renevable energy is important and needed, but the suddent change thats happened in the last 7 months is devastateing for the EU. A smooth transition that is properly planned and executed, with the fossil fuels as a safety policy would work and the population would not suffer as much if at all. The most affected in this situation are the poor people and families. This crisis will take a toll on all of us. I belive we should learn about this and prepare.
