Us having a coffee!

Third Meeting at Laapinkaari (10th of October)

The third Each One Teach One meeting took place on the 10th of October at Laapinkaari during a coffee break. The relaxed and familiar atmosphere created a comfortable space for conversation and learning. Having coffee together helped the interaction feel natural and encouraged open discussion.

The main focus of this meeting was vocabulary related to education, family, and the home. We discussed topics such as university and school systems, family members, and different parts of a house, including the kitchen, bathroom, common room, and other living spaces. I practiced learning these concepts in Spanish, while the Spanish participants practiced the same topics in Persian. Connecting the vocabulary to real-life experiences made the learning process more meaningful.

This session also allowed us to compare educational systems and family structures, which led to interesting cultural discussions. Talking about our homes and daily routines helped deepen our understanding of how language reflects lifestyle and social values. Using examples from our own experiences made it easier to remember new words and expressions.

At times, the amount of new vocabulary felt challenging, especially when switching between several topics. English once again helped us clarify meanings and pronunciation when needed. Despite these difficulties, the supportive and relaxed environment encouraged participation and reduced the fear of making mistakes.

In reflection, this meeting demonstrated how everyday conversations can be powerful learning tools. Discussing familiar topics such as family, education, and home life strengthened both my vocabulary and cultural awareness. This session further confirmed that learning languages through shared experiences is effective and engaging.
