The seventh Each One Teach One meeting took place on the 18th of November at Laapinkaari during a coffee break. The calm and familiar environment once again supported open conversation and comfortable learning. Sharing coffee helped create a relaxed atmosphere that encouraged discussion and storytelling.
The main focus of this meeting was vocabulary related to the kitchen. We learned and practiced the names of common kitchen items such as spoons, knives, forks, plates, and other utensils. I practiced these terms in Spanish, while the Spanish participants practiced the same vocabulary in Persian. Using real-life examples and imagining everyday kitchen situations made the vocabulary easier to understand and remember.
Alongside language learning, we shared interesting stories about our travels and experiences while living in Finland. These conversations added a personal dimension to the meeting and encouraged the use of descriptive language. Talking about real experiences helped us naturally apply new vocabulary and improve our conversational skills.
There were moments when recalling specific words was challenging, especially when switching between languages. English was used as a support language to clarify meanings when necessary. Despite these challenges, the relaxed setting made it easier to communicate and remain engaged.
In reflection, this meeting highlighted how combining vocabulary learning with personal storytelling enhances language acquisition. Learning kitchen-related vocabulary in a familiar context, while sharing travel experiences, made the session both educational and meaningful. This meeting further strengthened my confidence in learning languages through everyday conversation.
