Today we had our fifth Spanish-learning meeting, and this time we dove into the world of shopping vocabulary — which turned out to be much more fun than it sounds! We met up and pretended we were doing a full Spanish grocery run, from picking out vegetables to finding the right aisle for drinks and snacks.
We practiced words like lechuga (lettuce), tomate, cebolla, and of course everyone’s favorite — aguacate 🥑. At one point we joked that if Spanish class ever fails, at least we’ll survive in a supermarket abroad. We also learned some useful general stores-and-shopping terms like ropa (clothes), mochila (bag), and caja (cashier). It honestly felt like we were preparing for a dramatic Spanish telenovela set in a supermarket.
We didn’t stop at groceries — Val also introduced a few household items like licuadora (blender), which somehow turned into a mini tongue-twister challenge. And let’s not forget helado (ice cream), because every serious learning session deserves a sweet moment 🍦😄.
Reflecting on the meeting, I feel like I can now confidently recognize a lot more everyday items in Spanish. Practicing vocabulary through real-life examples made everything easier to remember and definitely more fun.
It was another lively and enjoyable session — full of laughs, useful words, and a surprisingly competitive amount of imaginary shopping. Looking forward to our next meetup! ✨
