Hi! It’s been way too long since I last posted something. I had a plan to make one post including two meetings because they actually had the same theme: games. The first meeting with games was too short to do everything we planned so that’s why two playing meetings. The time between these two meeting were quite long because of autumn flu and then before writing this post I’ve been in a hurry. So sorry for that!
Both of these meetings were at my sister and her 8-year old daughter’s place. My niece was really excited to meet Chrystal and talked days before the meeting what we could play! 🙂 Then in the first playing meetings we decided to play this Donald Duck -game and the Moomin memory game. The Donald Duck is about having a card telling places around Duckburg you have to visit in that order the card says. Sometimes there is questions you have to answer and if you get the answer right you either get some comforts as the game moves on or for example you have to get backwards 2 steps. The thing in the game is to take Uncle Scrooge’s the Number One Dime to Money Bin. Random player gets the Dime in the start and other players try to steal it during the game. The winner of the game is the player who gets the Dime to Money Bin. ‘
I think this was quite good game for us to play even though my niece doesn’t speak English and Chrystal doesn’t understand everything the 8-year-old is trying to say :D. But we had fun! After this we played the Moomin memory game. It’s the same kind of memory game like others but what we learned about was that we are old! I think the 8-year-old girl won every round we played, haha. Few words translated:
Board game – Lautapeli Donald Duck – Aku Ankka Scrooge McDuck – Roope Ankka Duckburg – Ankkalinna The Number One Dime – Ensilantti Money Bin – Rahasäiliö Memory game – Muistipeli The Moomins – Muumit
The second meeting with games was about traditional Malaysian game called Batu Seremban. The game has 7 levels players have to pass. The winner of the game is the player who passes all the 7 levels first. Rules say that if you pass one level and get to the second you don’t have to start all over again but you can continue the level you reached. You play with little pouches. And again we were with my niece so Chrystal thought it would be nice to make the pouches for the game for our own. How nice! So we started the meeting with cutting old pieces of clothes and then sewing the pouches. We needed five little pouches and it would’ve been nice to have different colours but we had just pink. To make pouches we needed to cut the cloth then sew a bit and fill the pouch with rice and sew to close it. It was harder I thought because the pouches had to be so thick and there shouldn’t be any slots for rice to drop out. The game itself
was harder than I though 😀 I thought it would be easy just to throw, drop and catch the pouches but no! Although it gets easier when you play more. There is a video teaching how to play. The whole meeting was about playing this game and studying English and Finnish words. It was quite fun I’d say 😀 I definitely can recommend the game for everyone.
