Finnish music

Our last lesson in finnish culture: music.

We were talking about some music lyrics in our facebook group (because I am already back in Germany). A friend of mine wants to get a tattoo with the lyrics of a finnish song. The song is called “eskimo song” by Damien Rice. In fact, most parts of the song are in English. Only in the end, there is a canon or refrain or however you want to call it. And this part is in finnish. The translation of these last lines can go something like this:

Kosketa minua – Touch me
Älä käsilläsi – Not with your hands
Vaan niin että tunnen sinut – But so that I feel you

Halaa minua – Hug me
Älä käsilläsi – Not with your hands
Mutta sielussasi – But within your soul

Erica and Laura only were not really sure about the last part. Instead of mutta sielussasi, they would say vaan sielussasi, because it sounds better. Well, I passed these informations on to my friend and hope that she won´t get a tattoo with too many mistakes 😉
