My name is Arianna and I’m from Italy, Karla is from Mexico and we are already good friends!
On our first meeting we spent more then two hours talking about the pronunciation of s, c, z in Spanish with some example, how to describe yourself in Italian and about a lot of famous italian singers that we both like. For her it’s difficult to pronounce the italian article “gli”, for example: “io ho gli occhi marroni” means “I have brown eyes”, it has been funny listening to her whe she was trying to pronounce that article 🙂
We discovered also that we both LOVE Christian Castro, a mexican singer, we are crazy for him!
We talked also about dialects, because in Italy if people from the north talk with people from the south in dialects they won’t understand each other: instead, she told that in Mexico people can understand each other even if something change because of the dialect.
When I normally think about Mexico I imagine the sun and the beaches, but when she told me that she is used to the Finnish weather because where she lives it’s very cold I was really surprised!
We had a lot of fun with “trabalenguas” / “scioglilingua” (tongue twisters)!! She explained me the differences between the mexican “s” and the spanish “s” and it was quite interesting!
Oh and she has also a sister called Ariadna, I love the mexican version of my name!!
I enjoyed it a lot and the time just flew!!
