03.12 Nature

For our final session, Yevhen and I decided to take our learning outdoors. We went for a walk through the woods near our neighborhood, using the natural scenery as our classroom. It was the perfect way to practice nature vocabulary (природа) in a real-world setting.

As we walked along the pavement, I practiced identifying everything I saw, from дерево (tree) to bird(Птица). We had originally planned to learn specific names for different types of birds and local plants; however, the weather was quite chilly and a bit misty so we spent most of our time discussing the landscape and the “quiet hunting” culture Yevhen mentioned—mushroom picking! Because we were focused on staying warm while walking, we didn’t get to the specific botanical names we intended to cover, but the immersion was fantastic.

It was a peaceful end to our study sessions, and I’ve truly enjoyed seeing my progress through these walks and talks!
