25.11 Travel

Today, Yevhen and I met at the TAMKO office to tackle travel vocabulary. With the semester is approaching the end, it felt like the perfect time to learn how to navigate airports and train stations.

We started by going through essentials like паспорт (passport) and билет (ticket). Our original plan was to role-play a full hotel check-in scenario; however, we ended up spending nearly the entire hour discussing the logistics of the train systems. Since I often travel between Finland and Poland, I was curious about the terminology for international travel. We got so deep into the differences between вокзал (main station) and станция (stop) that we had to postpone our hotel role-play for another time.

It was another great session of “Slavic comparisons”—seeing how поезд (train) sounds so similar across the region. Even though we shifted our focus, I feel much more confident about my next trip!
