It was my pre-birthday party with my friends on 25 November in Lapinkaari.My actual birthday is on 26 February, but since we won’t be able to meet then because our exchange semester will end soon, my friends suggested having an early celebration. I was really touched that they wanted to celebrate it together before everyone goes back home.
I made Korean traditional seaweed soup called “Miyeokguk(미역국)”, which is eaten especially on birthdays in Korea. I also prepared and glöggi, a Finnish traditional warm drink, so it felt like a nice mix of both cultures.

When my friends arrived at Lapinkaari, they gave me small gifts and warm congratulations, which made me feel very appreciated.
They also brought food like sandwiches, chocolate desserts, juice, and cake. We enjoyed everythig together, and the atmosphere felt cozy and friendly.



Even though it wasn’t my real birthday, I felt really happy. It was meaningful to celebrate with the friends I met during my exchange, and moments like this remind me how special this semester has been.
