Our ninth Each One Teach One session was held on December 8th at the supermarket. We wanted to learn useful vocabulary related to food and shopping while doing something practical and enjoyable.
We walked through the aisles naming different products we could see, such as bread, milk, cheese, rice, fruit, and vegetables, among many others. We practiced the words in Spanish, English, and Persian, helping each other with pronunciation. This was an excellent way to connect new vocabulary with real objects and everyday situations.
We also talked about cultural differences related to supermarkets. For example, we discussed with Alijon how food is sold and organized in Tajikistan, and compared it with how supermarkets work in Spain. It was surprising to see how even a simple activity like grocery shopping can reveal differences in lifestyle and culture in our daily lives.
This meeting was both practical and enjoyable. It showed me that I learn languages best when they are connected to real-life experiences. I felt that my language skills had improved significantly, and I was able to apply them immediately in everyday contexts.
