On the 4th of November, we had our fourth Each One Teach One meeting at the university gym. We resolved to use learning and physical activity, and thus it became a fun and interactive experience. We had to revise what we had learned during our previous sessions (family members, rooms in the house, fruits, etc.) in a quick review before starting our workout to refresh our memory.
Next, we concentrated on the words connected to the parts of the body and sports, which turned out to be the most appropriate topic at this time. During our leg exercise, we said such words as legs, arms, shoulders, and back, and we were taught how to call various sports running, swimming, or football. Observing movement to make the newly acquired words easier to memorize was interesting.
We then eased up after the exercises and spent some time on the jumping rope laughing and enjoying our time together. The physical activity and learning language together provided an energetic and pleasant environment.
This meeting made me understand that learning does not necessarily need to be in a classroom setting. The affiliation of language with scenarios in life makes the process more attractive and memorable. I also believed that my vocabulary was expanding and I was developing more confidence in the use of new words.
