The four of us, Felix, Etty, Thijs, and I, got together for a cozy game night at Felix’s place. Since Felix is half French, a French game was, of course, a must.
We started with Barbu, a classic French card game. What makes it special is that the rules change every round, which makes the game exciting and sometimes a bit chaotic. In between, we also talked about the Bavarian card deck and how many traditional games can be played with it.
After that, we played a German game called “Liar” (Lügen), also using the Bavarian card deck. This game is very traditional and really depends on how well you can read your fellow players – bluffing is an essential part of it.
To finish the evening, things got a bit more active: we played a Dutch game where you have to pop the balloons attached to the other players’ legs. In the end, Felix won. I remembered this game from my childhood, which brought back some nice memories. In Germany we are having the game as well.
All in all, it was a very nice evening with lots of games, different traditions, and a great atmosphere.
