For me, the evening was mainly an opportunity to meet friends, spend time together, and talk while watching the game. The arena was lively, but we didn’t take the match too seriously. We talked about our everyday lives, studies, and plans, and the hockey game stayed mostly in the background.

Even so, I learned a few German words related to the situation. We used words like Eishockey (ice hockey), Spiel (game), Mannschaft (team), Tor (goal), and Pause (break). Hearing and using these words during the game made them easier to remember, even without being deeply involved in the sport itself.
After the game ended, we didn’t go home immediately. Instead, we stayed outside near the arena, standing in the parking area and talking with other people for quite a while. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the conversation continued naturally.
Later in the evening, Christoph and I cycled back to our accommodation together. Riding through the city at night after the game was calm and pleasant, and it became one of those simple moments that I really appreciated.
Overall, the hockey evening was not about the sport for me, but about spending time together, having conversations, and learning new words in a natural setting.
