4. Meeting Icehockey game

Today i went to an Ilves icehockey game with Emma and we had a great view from our seats directly behind the players' bench. I learned my first numbers in Norwegian.

Today I went to an Ilves ice hockey game with Emma. We were sitting right behind the players’ bench. It was very cool to be so close to the action. I couldn’t decide whether to watch the players on the bench or follow the game. Both were very exciting. You could see the expressions on the players’ faces and how they communicated with each other. We were able to observe how the coaches coached their team.
During the game, the Ilves mascot came to our seat and gave us a fist bump.

Emma told me that ice hockey is not that popular in Norway. Biathlon is the most popular sport. The sport has a rich tradition in the country and has produced many world-class athletes.

Emma started by telling me some basic information about the Norwegian language. Norway has two official written forms of the language: Bokmål and Nynorsk. Bokmål is more commonly used, especially in urban areas.

The game ended 4:1 in favor of Ilves. During the game, Emma taught me the numbers 1-5 in Norwegian.

  • One: En
  • Two: To
  • Three: Tre
  • Four: Fire
  • Five: Fem

Before this meeting I knew very little about Norway and it was great to learn so much about a country that I have been wanting to visit for a long time. I was surprised how easy it was for me to learn the first words in Norwegian. I look forward to learning even more about Norway.
