Our sixth Each One Teach One was held on the 7 th of November in the Oasis Room on the City Center campus. It was also a very homely and friendly environment, good enough to facilitate our language and cultural exchange.

At the beginning of the session, we got to know how to pronounce various colors and discuss the weather using the language of each other. It was a game to match the words with the surrounding things or place, such as the description of the blue sky or the white walls of the room. We used short sentences such as It is cold today or The sun is shining, and this way the learning turned out to be relevant and related to everyday life.

Next we started discussing the way each of us celebrates Christmas. We exchanged our family traditions, special meals, and the significance of this holiday to us. In his country, Alijon explained to us that the festivities are very different and it was interesting to hear about other methods of celebrating the season.

I found this meeting to be really interesting since it combined both vocabulary and culture. Discussion of common themes such as weather and holidays made us talk more fluently, and comprehend how language represents culture in day-to-day life.
