Hello everyone!
In the last couple of years I’ve lived, studied and worked in different places in the world. Wherever I was, and whatever I was involved in- the key to the success were always people. Finland provided me with a great communicative skills and encouraged to discover the world. The country also trained me to really really appreciate small talks and polite smiles haha.
For example, I didn’t understand the purpose of various electronic doors in University and in public places. Fried herring looked very bad and Vappu was exhausting.
I was starving so many times, because the shops were closed for public holidays. And bus number 5 had brand new route every day. Finnish relationship with Sauna turned out to be a subject of dozens dissertations. Finally,in front of my window husbands were practicing to carry their wives for a marathon. At the place where I had my internship, the top floor was dedicated for sauna….. All important business meetings were hold in hot, warm place, full of naked people talking about business. I was told Sauna is a perfect place for business meetings, just because people tend to be be honest and open minded in it.
All this small things create a so called Finnishness. Through the years, I have started enjoying it. Even now, being in Saint Petersburg, packing things for moving to the Netherlands, I am drinking hot black coffee. I guess, I got used to it already.
