Vlog: Studying in Tampere University in Finland

Why study at Tampere University? What is it like to study Finnish? In the fourth part of the vlog series, Raysa and Mérédith discuss how they came to study in the LFC programme at Tampere University and little bit about the Finnish language. Moro moro!

On a weekly basis from December until February, we will be posting vlogs dedicated to the Master’s Degree Programme in Leadership for Change. The vlogs will discuss a wide range of topics from study culture to students’ experiences and master’s thesis process and advice.

The Leadership Symposium notes: International security – the outlook for Finland

"As I listened to the keynote speech given by Sir Mark Lyall Grant , the Former National Security Advisor to the British Prime Minister, I was left wondering about the magnitude of change that we are all facing in 2022. I was left with questions such as what kind of world are we leaving behind for the generations to come, and whether we are able to tackle the multitude of conflicts and issues we are facing today. The Leadership Symposium notes: Social change and its typologies in the context of a Finnish mega-project in Uruguay to exploit natural resources

At the annual Leadership Symposium, organized by Tampere University's Faculty of Management and Business, one of the panels was dedicated to the topic of Finnish forestry megaprojects in Latin America. The panel hosted Saara Tahvanainen, vice president in stakeholder relations at UPM-Kymmene, professor Teivo Teivainen and research assistant Emiliano Sosa Barrios from University of Helsinki, and doctoral researcher Lara Gonzalez Porras from Tampere University. UPM-Kymmene, a Finnish forest industry company, is currently implementing a mega-project in Uruguay to develop a pulp factory, and this project is creating an important change in Uruguayan society. LFC student Yasmine Bounouara reflected on the panel's topic looking into four perspectives: character, magnitude, focus and level/scale.
