Wappu is one of the biggest and most legendary student festivals in Finland – and trust me, it’s not just a one-day thing! It’s a wild, colorful, weeks-long celebration full of events, traditions, and pure student chaos (in the best way possible).
Whether you’re here for the parties, the culture, or just the sunshine vibes, Wappu has something for everyone! Here are my favourite ones!
- Wappu Picnic
Nothing beats just chilling by the river in the spring sunshine. Wappu Picnic was so much fun – imagine friends, carnival games, face painting, a big drinking Twister (yes, really), and even a surprise container rave! It felt like a mini festival right in the middle of the city. Definitely one of those days you wish could last forever.Wappu Picnic Scenes – Playing Twister and Chilling by the River - Tupsula Open-Air
Tupsula Open Air had the craziest atmosphere in the best way possible!
There were awesome live bands performing, people dancing everywhere, and this super chill vibe that just made you want to stay forever. Plus, there was a sauna (because, of course it’s Finland) and the smell of sausages grilling in the air. Good music, good food, and good company, honestly, it felt like a mini summer festival right in the middle of Wappu. ️
Vibing at Tupusula with good music and hotdogs - Creative Wappu
If you love colors, art, or just getting a little messy, Creative Wappu is the place to be. You could paint, sketch croquis models, draw all over the sidewalks with chalk, and even join a fun Lego-building challenge. It was so refreshing to just let the creativity flow and see how talented (and chaotic) everyone was. Sometimes Wappu isn’t about partying – it’s about making something beautiful too!
Discovering my artistic nature hehe XD - Appro Madness — Wappumättörundi
Appros are a huge part of Finnish student culture, and Wappumättörundi was hands down one of the best! Instead of hopping between bars, we got to tour different cafes, sampling all kinds of savory snacks and sweet treats at discounted student prices. It was such a fun (and delicious) way to spend the day – and at the end, we even got an adorable patch for our overalls to remember it by. Cafes + cute patches = best combo ever.Cutest Patch Ever! - Paw Therapy
This one’s for all the animal lovers out there (and honestly, who isn’t?). Paw Therapy had loads of adorable dogs, and everyone was just vibing, petting, playing, and soaking up the happiness. It was impossible not to smile. If Wappu ever feels overwhelming, this is the perfect cozy recharge because hugs from fluffy friends just make everything better.Teekkarikaste (Teekkari Dipping)
📍 Tammerkoski Rapids / Koskipuisto
🗓️ May 1st (Wappu Day itself!)The ultimate Wappu experience! Taking the Wappu oath with all the other students felt so special, it’s like officially becoming part of something much bigger. And the Teekkari Dipping? Absolutely iconic. Watching (and cheering for) the first-year students as they get dipped into the chilly Tammerkoski river is a must-see. It’s such a huge tradition, and the energy around Koskipuisto is just contagious!

Temmatour (Teemunkierros)
Temmatour was honestly one of the wildest parts of Wappu! Running around collecting stamps at all kinds of events from chill movie nights to crazy parties, was both exhausting and amazing. By the end, I was completely wiped out but so proud, because earning that Emäteemu patch felt like a real badge of honor. 🏅 If you want the full Wappu experience (and a great story to tell), Temmatour is 100% the way to go!
Emäteemu 2025, here I come!
Wappu is full of so many amazing events, but these ones were truly unforgettable for me. Each had its own vibe – from crazy fun to pure chill – and I honestly can’t imagine Wappu without them! These events made my Wappu so memorable, and if you’re around, you seriously shouldn’t miss them! ❤️
Happy Wappu! 🎈💥
