For our sixth Spanish-learning meeting, we decided to do something completely different β a cooking session! We went to Valeriaβs place and made chilaquiles, a delicious Mexican dish that somehow made the whole meeting feel like a small cultural adventure. While chopping, mixing, and preparing everything, we had Spanish music playing in the background, which turned cooking into a full Spanish immersion experience πΆοΈπ³.
Listening to Spanish songs while cooking actually helped me improve my listening skills more than I expected. I started recognizing some words and rhythms, and Val even explained a few lyrics along the way. It felt like learning without realizing youβre learning β the best kind of studying! ππ΅
Once the food was ready (and smelling amazing), we turned dinner into a mini game: one of us played a Spanish song, and the other had to guess the name or the artist. Sometimes we got it right, sometimes we were way off β but that just made it even funnier. The mix of music, food, and Spanish vocabulary made the whole evening super dynamic and enjoyable.
Reflecting on the meeting, I realized how helpful it is to learn Spanish through everyday activities. Cooking and listening to music made everything more natural and memorable, and I definitely feel more confident recognizing words in Spanish songs now.
Overall, Meeting 6 was a perfect combination of learning, laughter, good food, and great company. Canβt wait for the next one! β¨πͺπΈπ₯
