For our ninth Spanish-learning meeting, we went to a great spot in Tampere to watch the UEFA Champions League match between Manchester City and Real Madrid. From the start, we were clear rivals π, which made the atmosphere even more exciting. The place was full of energy, emotions, and football passion β exactly how a Champions League night should feel!
While watching the match, we naturally mixed football with Spanish. We used football-related words and expressions, reacted to goals and chances in Spanish, and joked using phrases weβve learned before. It felt very natural to connect Spanish with something Iβm truly passionate about β football β½. I noticed that I was able to understand and use simple Spanish expressions more confidently, especially when talking about the game.
Reflecting on the meeting, this session showed me how effective it is to learn a language through shared interests. Being rivals made the conversations even more fun, and using Spanish in an emotional, real-life situation helped the words stick better. Even though we supported different teams, we both enjoyed the match and the great atmosphere.
Overall, Meeting 9 was full of excitement, rivalry, laughter, and Spanish practice. A perfect mix of football and learning β definitely a night to remember! β¨ππͺπΈ
