For our final two meetings we decided to just learn some German Vocabulary.
Me and Tom are both engineering student and since a lot of the big engineering companies are based in Germany this will for sure come in handy in the future.
We both have no previous experience in German because we studied a more technical program in high school. Because of that we had to start of learning very basic words and sentences.
The fact that German language is similar to Dutch language played into our advantage. Some words are really just pronounced slightly different, but other words have no similarity to Dutch at all.
Here are a couple of words that we learned in this meeting:
What’s your name? – Wie heisst du?
My name is – Ich heiße.
How are you? – Wie geht’s
Good and you? – Gut. Und dir?
Very good. – sehr gut.
Where are you from? – Woher kommst du?
I’m from Belgium. – Ich komme aus Belgie.
Very nice. – sehr schön
Thank you. – danke
See you – tschüss.
