Today was our first meeting. We all met together in a café to just get to know each other and learn some useful phrases.
We focused mainly on basic vocabulary and phrases needed to order in a café. I already knew some basic vocabulary but now I learned whole phrases to put in use every time I want to order a coffee.
I did not have the confidence yet to order completely in Finnish as I was afraid of not understanding the response but that is something I will definitely practice in the future.
It was also a bit difficult to teach someone else my own language as there are many things I don’t think about as a native speaker and it was a new experience for me.
All in all, we had a great time and besides learning the language we also talked about some different customs in Finland and Germany, as for example the tipping culture.
