Due to illness and activities, we unfortunately had to hold our first meeting late. However, we all already knew each other and were then able to get started right away.
For our first meeting we met in the evening to cook at my place. We prepared a German dish and watched a Champions League match of the German football club FC Bayern Munich during dinner.
Since Martin and Joe both already have previous knowledge of German, we talked (almost) all evening in German, and I corrected them when necessary. To support me as a teacher, another German friend of ours came around and spent the evening with us.
To improve my English, Joe does the same for me and corrects me if I make a grammatical mistake. He also taught me the phrases “it’s a steal” or “a bargain”, which means buying something very cheaply.
It was a very funny evening!
