French-Spanish sixth meeting : Comida

A few weeks after having done our first food workshop online making crepes, it was time for a second session. This time, no French recipe, but a Spanish one.

Indeed, Carlos and Ernest taught me how to do a tortilla. here are the ingredients that you would need:

  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 oignon
  • 2-3 potatoes
  • Oil
  • salt
  • pepper

It starts out as a typical omelet with the batting of the eggs (huevos). it all goes pretty easily until the critical part of flipping the tortilla midway into the cooking process. You need to use a plate to flip the half-cooked tortilla and to put it back into the frying pan.

Of course a lot was spilled on the side on my part, and I was impressed by my teachers skills !

In the end, it still tasted great and it was a lot of fun to do it, even though it was through zoom. It was also a great opportunity to refresh my knowledge of the Spanish names for ingredients and cooking processes. Ernest and Carlos were patient and gave clear instructions.

 

I recommend anyone to try to do one at home, but beware of the spills!
