14.10 Visit Finnish Waffle Cafe

What I learned:

While enjoying blueberry and apple-cinnamon waffles, we talked mainly in Korean to help my partner practice. I taught him how to describe taste using Korean expressions:

  • “달아요.” (It’s sweet.)
  • “따뜻해요.” (It’s warm.)
  • “맛있어요.” (It’s delicious.)

He also asked me about how to express future tense, so I gave examples like “공부할 거예요.” (I will study) and “운동할 거예요.” (I will exercise).

I learned some Finnish small talk expressions from him, such as “Miten menee?” (How’s it going?) and “Todella hyvää!” (Really good!).

What I taught:

We discussed Korean education culture and how students often study after school. He practiced using Korean tense changes like “했어요 (past)” and “할 거예요 (future).”

Reflection:

Combining dessert and conversation made the language exchange natural and fun. It felt meaningful to see him improve his Korean pronunciation while I practiced Finnish conversational flow.
