In the last weekend in September, we escaped the city and headed deep into nature for a event we called “Cottage Madness” – a wild, fun-filled weekend with tents, tournaments, and total chaos (in the best way possible). The setting couldn’t have been better: a peaceful lake, surrounded by trees showing off their early autumn colors, and just enough space to pitch our tents and let the madness begin.
We arrived Friday afternoon and set up our tents just a few steps away from the lake. As the sun set, we gathered by the lake, and after a quick dinner, we kicked off a spontaneous rave filled with Spanish songs that kept us dancing late into the night.

Saturday was packed with action. The highlight of the day? The legendary Flunkyball tournament. Spirits were high, strategies were questionable, and the competition was fierce — but somehow, against all odds (and maybe thanks to Laura’s incredible drinking skills), we won the whole thing. Victory never tasted so sweet. We may or may not have made up a victory chant on the spot, involving clinking bottles and dramatic slow-motion celebrations.
Right after Flunkyball, we switched gears and joined the Beach Volleyball tournament. Our team was on fire — we spiked, dived, and cheered our way into the final match. The sand was cold, the points were close, and although we gave it everything we had, we just narrowly missed the win. Still, making it to the final felt like a big deal, and we walked off the court with sand everywhere, sweaty, and a little bit angry.
To relax after all that movement, we treated ourselves to one of the best parts of the weekend: the Finnish sauna by the lake. Twice we heated up in the wooden sauna until we couldn’t take it anymore — and then ran straight into the icy lake water.
It was shocking, exhilarating, and oddly addictive.

We picked up some fun new words over the weekend, like some of the below:
- Tent – Zelt – Stan
- Sleeping bag – Schlafsack – Spacák
- Camping mat – Isomatte – Karimatka
- Sleeping under the stars – Unter freiem Himmel schlafen – Spát pod hvězdami
- to party– feiern – slavit
The evenings were spent under the stars, wrapped in hoodies and blankets, dancing and talking until late at night. It felt like time slowed down — no phones, no stress, just friends, fresh air, and freedom.
