Sixth meeting in Oasis Room

On our 6th meeting on November 7th 2025, we got together in the Oasis Room in Tampere University downtown, a comfortable space with couches, computers, books, ottomans, etc, that created a very relaxed and cozy atmosphere. We started by practicing the colors (as the room was full of them) and then we went on to talk about the weather. Andrea, Daira and I learnt how to say these words in Persian, while Alijon practiced them in Spanish. This allowed us to widen our vocabulary and improve our pronunciation in a real conversation context.

Afterwards, we played a game of linking words with objects or characteristics that we saw around us. For example, we described the blue sky, the white walls of the room or the different elements of space. This activity made learning more dynamic and helped us remember and use new words in context.

Later, we talked about how we celebrate Christmas in our countries. Sharing the different Christamas traditions of Spain and Tajikistan was really interesting. I was surprised by the diversity of cultural practices, and listening to personal stories about festivities, meals and family customs made the conversation very enriching.

When reflecting about this session, I feel like my vocabulary has improved and my pronunciation in Persian has gotten better, I also feel more comfortable using new words in conversations. I also observed that interactive activities, like the game of linking words, make learning more effective and comfortable. Listening to Alijon’s experiences helped me understand better everyday life in Tajikistan and their traditions, and sharing mine allowed me to see my own culture from another perspective.

Here is us in the Oasis Room!
