I started my exchange studies in Bielefeld, Germany in September 2014. I’m living in northern Germany in nice little city called Bielefeld. Life in Germany is nice and easy, not so different from Finland. I have a perfect little flat and I have all my friends living in the same building.
Univärsität Bielefeld
University of Bielefeld is really different from any school I have seen in Finland. The building reminds me of a railway station and there is for example a grocery store, bakery, pool, kebab restaurant and an insurance company inside the university. The building is huge and fortunately all my classes are in the same wing, otherwise I would get lost every day.
Sparrenburg castle
There’s not much sightseeing to do in Bielefeld but we have a small castle there. It’s actually really nice place to visit if the weather is warm and pretty. Since this is not the most interesting place to be, I have been traveling a lot in northern Germany. For example Köln, Düsseldorf and Berlin has been really interesting cities and easy to reach by using Germany’s surprisingly not so punctual train services.
