Studying in Portugal has been slightly different from what I’m used to. Here teachers have a lot of classes and for one course you have to study a lot. I find that very educational and my motivation for studying has risen since living here. My favourite cafe has been called Honest greens and it’s where we usually meet with my friends to study.
Studying culture here in Portugal is more focused on self-studying and doing notes than it is in Finland. In Finland our main focus is on group works and we usually get time for that during class time. Here it is more important to go through all the topics in class and then give your free time for working. The teachers tend to be more critical here as well which I personally see as something good, because I then know what to work on.

On my free time I’ve had the pleasure being able to travel! This is something I have dreamed of my entire life and it finally came true. I visited Morocco, Spain and different parts of Portugal as Porto and the stunning Algarve. I learned so much about myself and other cultures. The thing I will remember for the rest of my life is for sure the camel ride. It was just something so magical being in the middle of a sahara dessert stranded with people you didn’t know.
Besides travelling I spent much of my time with my beautiful friends. I feel like even though I got to experience Lisbon a whole of 5 months I still had so many things I would’ve loved to do there. I would highly recommend Lisbon as an exchange city, the city never sleeps and you never know what it can bring you.
With love,
Sofia
