I arrived in Albstadt in late September to study IT Security. Albstadt is a smaller city in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. The university is called Hochschule Albstadt-Sigmaringen, so there is another campus in Sigmaringen, which is home to the Sigmaringen Castle. I study only in Albstadt and I live in student housing near the school buildings.
My own degree in TAMK is Software Engineering, which is somewhat different from IT Security. There are some things that are new to me so it can feel hard at times but I have learned a lot. Teachers give lectures and we have assignments and some group projects to do. For the Project Course we got an assignment from a company, which is pretty cool. The winter semester here will end in February.
The international team arranged multiple excursions for the weekends, which was really great and free for us exchange students. We visited Überlingen, Cannstatter Volksfest (similar to Oktoberfest) in Stuttgart, Ulm, medieval Christmas market in Esslingen, and chocolate market in Tübingen to name a few. I think it’s also quite easy to hop on a train and visit another country here. I have not really traveled before but now I’ve been able to visit Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria and Luxembourg. I want to keep traveling and visit more places inside and outside Germany (R.I.P. my bank account) before my exchange studies end!
