Every single day has been different during the summer. So much learning in the beginning and still learning and developing my skills now. My practice training has given me an opportunity to learn in a very international atmosphere and manage people from different countries and meet hundreds of customers per day. In one day I can be supervising, guiding bike tour, working in a kitchen, cafe and a shop, making inventory, meeting customers or jumping into the freezing lake to fix water pump. And I love all of it.

And then the free time: endless opportunities to explore the beautiful nature all around me. Hiking, kayaking, swimming, rib-boats and just chilling: there is something for everyone. I didn’t even consider myself an outdoorsy person while arriving, but that has definitely changed here, there is so much to see and do. Also so many young people to connect with and so many talents bringing their ideas for us to experience. Not only outdoor-things but also things like dances, open mics and cooking nights.

Hard to compare the working culture to Finland because this is so seasonal and international so it has definitely been the most busy and intense work I have ever done but what I have heard that is the same for the seasonal works in Finland as well. So I think it is very similar to Finland. Otherwise Norway’s workers (outside of the seasonal work) seem to take it very chill and relaxed, things happen very slowly if at all. So in a way it is a very different way of working, mostly because they don’t live to work but seem to do very well anyway.

Greetings from Geiranger and welcome here to visit or work,
Olivia
