Wels, Austria

Alps

Guten Tag from Austria!

Wels is a small and peaceful city in Upper Austria, which makes it a nice place to live. It is also easy to travel from here to nearby countries and to the Alps. In my spare time, I have mostly spent time with other exchange students.

One of the best part of my free time has been snowboarding in the Alps. The mountains are much bigger and harder than in Finland and it has been a really great experience.

Studying here has been quite different than in Finland. I have over 10 courses now. Some courses last only a few lessons and then there is an exam, while other continues for the whole period.

In Austria, studying is more structured. Attendance is required and rules are stricter. The system feels more controlled than in Finland.

I think both systems have their advantages. The Finnish system gives more freedom, while the Austrian system provides more structure and guidance.
