Finnishness for me

There is at least three things in Finland that I’m going to miss during my exchange period. And I think there is going to be much much longer list after being abroad for six months.

Cottage

Finnish people love to go to their cottages on weekends and holidays especially in the summer time. At cottages Finns relax, goes fishing, swims, makes barbeque, enjoys the company and of course sauna a lot.

Sauna

It is obviously that Finnish people love to sweat in sauna. According to Suomen Saunaseura ry’s investigation there is 3,2 million saunas in Finland and the number is growing because almost every new apartment has its own sauna. For me sauna has always been place where to relax and nothing is better than dip in a one of Finland’s thousands lakes between sauna sessions.

Karelian pies

Finnish food may not be the fanciest food but there is at least one diamond which beats everything else – Karelian pies, especially with “munavoi”, spread made of butter and hard boiled eggs.
