Hey guys!
I think that this is the first blog I have ever made so I’m sorry if I’m kinda clumsy with writing and stuff!
So something about being Finnish.
The first thing that came into my mind is that people thinks that we are not happy or that something is wrong because we are not smiling all the time. This actually happened to me when I was in internship at Padova. I were working in University’s bistro with my classmate and almost everyday our “head chef” Fabio came to us and were asking that are we all right “tutto bene? tutto bene?” only because our “idle” working expression was neutral/serious. He wasn’t angry but he was worried. I think that it originates from that when someone gives us totally new task then we need to concentrate a lot to manage that task well. I’m not sure if that goes that way with others but actually every time when I’m really concentrating my face has this “serious expression” even when I’m really enjoying the task I’m doing! So yea just to point it out we really don’t are depressed or sad when we are not smiling! It’s just the thing that we do! 🙂

The ealier thing actually is only thing that fits me really well as Finnish because many have said that I’m really not like the stereotype Finnish guy. I think that there is many negative stereotypes about Finnish people example they don’t want to talk about themselves, guys don’t like to dance or sing if there is any unfamiliar nor familiar persons near them and they has really big personal space!
I’d rather say that Finnish people just “warm up” to others a bit slower so just take your time and get used to them a little by little. That should fix a lot and you’ll avoid misunderstanding!
I tried to add one picture of cartoon about Finnish people here but it wasn’t clear at all. So here’s link to the person’s blog who made them! 🙂 http://finnishnightmares.blogspot.fi/
