The awkwardness of being a Finn

For the past couple of years I’ve learned more and more things about what’s so great about being a Finnish person. We have a beautiful country with (about) 4 seasons, we have one of the highest standards of living in the world and living here is simply easy. Unlike some countries, we don’t have wars or any major conflicts with people or the government. We often take these things for granted and whine about Kela allowances or long waiting hours to a FREE doctor’s appointment, not realizing that most of the countries don’t even have benefits like these. So overall we have a great country with beautiful nature, honest people and great food. And we have sauna. If I wanted to properly introduce someone to Finland, the first thing I’d do is I’d take them to a Finnish summer cabin by the lake, heat up the sauna and get them drunk. That’s pretty much the most Finnish experience you can get.

So what about Finnish people? Well, we mean well. We may not be the most social, open or cheerful people in the world but we are honest, loyal and kind. And once you break that ice cold, this-meeting-new-people-thing-is-making-me-uncomfortable -surface our ours, you’ll find a funny, warm-hearted Finn and probably get a new friend for a lifetime. So, as a sum up, Finland is awesome.

And yeah, about the weather:

Öö
