My thoughts about Finnishness
When I think about Finnishness, a few things stand out clearly to me: silence, respect, and a deep connection to nature. These are not just cultural habits but ways of living that shape everyday life. In Finland, silence is not awkward but comforting. It gives me space for thoughts and clarity, something that becomes especially valuable when living abroad. Having room to breathe, both physically and mentally, is something I truly appreciate.

Nature also plays a central role in Finnishness. Forests, lakes, and the changing seasons are more than just a picture, they are places where people recharge. Whether it’s skiing in winter or walking in the forest during summer, nature offers balance and peace. I believe this closeness to the environment also reflects Finnish values of responsibility and respect. Finnish people treat nature with care because it is part of who they are.

Another key part of Finnishness is honesty and reliability. In Finland, if someone gives their word, you can usually trust it. Time management reflects this too, being on time shows respect for others. These small things create a sense of security and fairness in daily life.
For me, Finnishness is a balance: having your own space, while still belonging to a community. It is silence that speaks, respect that guides actions, and nature that provides strength. Even if I live elsewhere, these values stay with me and remind me of home.
