Glasgow, however unfamiliar, still friendly 🙂
I have been studying media and journalism studies during my time here and the pace of school is very different to what I expirience in Finland. I spend much less time at university and hardly ever have a school lunch!
Everyday after class there is an opportunity to go to the pub. The casual drinking culture has shocked me a bit. However I am hardly ever drunk, only having 1-2 beers typically. I prefer to keep drinking to the end of the week, most often after fencing sports club. They are often called socials and they are a nice way to spend time with and get to know locals.
Usually during the week, before or after class I pick a new part of the city I haven’t been to. My favourite so far has been Trongate. Lots of good cafe’s there! (I added a photo I have taken there to this post.)
The pace of life and studies is very different to home but I like to get lost here. However uncomfortable or actually literally lost, I have always been able to rely on a local to point me in the right direction or take me in. Glasgow is a friendly place compared to Finland!
