I have always lived in Pirkkala, a small town next to Tampere in Finland.
For me, Finnishness is seen in the way we live our daily lives. In the winter doing various winter activities cities such as skiing, ice fishing on frozen lakes, and taking a dip in icy water before warming up in a sauna. During summer We love the thousand of lakes and enjoying a few months of warmth. They’re not just activities but this that have shaped me to be Finnish.
Living in a place like Pirkkala, I’ve started to appreciate the quiet moments that Finnish culture values. Whether it’s enjoying the peace of nature or simply sitting in silence, there’s a strength and beauty in these simple things that make me proud of where I come from.
Even though I’ve traveled a lot, I’ve realised that Finnishness stays with you no matter where you go. It’s about being true to yourself, staying connected to your roots, and taking pride in the unique things that make us who we are.
