I got chosen for the project with company called Gofore, which helps it’s clients on various different industries to develop their business projects and processes towards more sustainable solutions and functions in the future by taking an advantage on modern technology and digital solutions as well as modern sustainability values. Their aim is to through individual consulting to work as a profound partner to help companies to develop their sustainability practices and clarify company values.
At this stage before beginning the actual project I have spent a large amount of this considering different topics or ideas that I could base my project around. From the company and project introduction content I found particularly interesting the topics the planetary boundaries and foot/handprint of sustainability. These are quite large topics and at the beginning I feel quite nervous to come up with a suitable topic for my project.
A few potential project ideas could be:
Integrating Planetary Boundaries in Service and Concept Design Projects
Description: In collaboration with Gofore, student will explore methodologies to incorporate planetary boundaries into the foundational phases of service and concept design. The project will involve a deep dive into understanding planetary limits and identifying critical chokepoints in traditional design processes. The final output will include a detailed guideline for service and concept designers to ensure environmental sustainability is an integral part of their projects.
Planetary Boundaries Assessment Tool for Designers
Description: In partnership with Gofore, student will develop an interactive digital tool that allows designers to assess the environmental impact of their projects in real-time. This tool will use datasets related to planetary boundaries and provide feedback on areas of concern, suggesting sustainable alternatives during the design process.
Lifecycle Energy Efficiency Analysis of Digital Services
Description: Teaming up with Gofore, this project will focus on creating a tool or model to measure and manage the energy consumption of a digital service from its inception to its end-of-life.
Student will delve into metrics that quantify energy use during service development, deployment, daily operations, and eventual decommissioning. The objective is to provide digital service developers with a clear roadmap to minimize their products’ energy footprints.
Enhancing the Positive Impact of Digital Products
Description: With Gofore’s partnership, student will embark on a journey to establish practices that amplify the positive impacts (handprint) of digital products on society and the environment. The project will study successful digital products that have brought about measurable positive change. By understanding these success stories, the team will design a set of best practices that guide developers in creating products that not only serve their primary purpose but also contribute positively to the broader world.
Gofore was my first choice of companies available for this project since I find their service selectin and values to work for developing sustainability in the business environment highly interesting and something that I also want to work in later in the future. I’m sure I will form a clear idea and plan for the project and get started on full speed soon. I’m very excited for this opportunity as part of my studies and will work to create best possible results.
